Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is an exciting natural treatment to improve your skin texture, smooth wrinkles, fine lines and soften or eliminate completely your scars. It is suitable for all skin types and all areas of the face, neck, décolletage and hands.

Skin needling is performed with a surgical grade instrument - DERMAPEN - with stainless steel micro needles ranging from 0.5mm to 2mm in length. Acne Scaring is treated with needles up to 2mm.

What is Dermapen skin needling?

What does a Dermapen treatment feel like during and after?

Those undergoing treatments with a shorter needle will only feel a tickling sensation, while those undergoing treatment with the full 2.5mm, as used in scar remodelling, are offered numbing creams as an option for treatment.

After the procedure your skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed.

After 3 days there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place.

How soon will I see the results?

Visible results of skin rejuvenation are generally seen after just 6-8 weeks following procedure and improve further over time.

Each patient’s healing time varies, though most start to see results in one day to a week after treatment. Immediately after treatment, patients may notice a red appearance in the treatment area. Even a light treatment can enhance the appearance of skin texture and brighten your complexion.

How many Dermapen treatments will I need?

Each person’s skin conditions are different and require different levels of treatment. Those with mild wrinkles and fine lines may see improvement after just one treatment while more advanced skin conditions like acne scarring may need more than one session.

The number of treatment sessions required will be determined during consultation with your Aesthetic Practitioner. Micro-needling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction we recommend to start with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction an average of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended.

The number of treatments required will depend on how each individual responds to the treatments, and the extent of the damage at the beginning Micro-needling can be used on all skin parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc). Most people will begin to see results after the very first appointment.
